Athletics Career Highlights
Usain Bolt,  Jamaica Born : 1986 in Trelawny, Jamaica. Bolt is the sprint sensation who rose to world prominence with his 3 Olympic gold medals at Beijing, all in world record times - 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 x 100 metres relay. With his charismatic personality and seemingly effortless running, he has become the face of Athletics. The "Lightning" Bolt confirmed his dominance with a sensational new world record in the 100 metres at the Berlin World Championships - 9.58 seconds followed by an equally amazing 19.19 world record in the 200 metres !! The 2011 World Championships saw another truly shocking result when he false-started  in the 100 metres final but he redeemed himself by retaining his 200 metres crown. He attained true legend status by becoming the first man to retain both his 100 metres and 200 metres Olympic titles in London as well as retaining the 4 x 100 metres relay. He also became the first to win the IAAF World Athlete of the Year title 4 times. Three more gold medals at the Moscow World Championships gave him a total of 8 golds equalling the best ever championship performance. He has now been awarded World Athlete of the Year 5 times. Perhaps his greatest achievement was to retain his World100 metres title in 2015 when he overcame the odds & poor form to defeat Justin Gatlin & then retain his 200 metres title. His grand total is now 11 World Championship golds. At the Rio Olympics he achieved a record 3rd 100 & 200 metres titles.
