Swimming Career Highlights
Grant Hackett , Australia Born : 1980 in Mermaid Waters.   He lays claim to being the greatest ever long distance swimmer. He still hold the world record for 1500 metres Freestyle, a record set in 2001. Hackett showed prowess at the shorter events and is emerged from under the shadow of Ian Thorpe by taking his 400 metres World title and 800 metres world record in 2005. Double Olympic 1500 metres champion. Four time World 1500 metres champion and had a long unbeaten run in 1500 metres.
