Swimming Career Highlights
Katinka Hosszu, Hungary Born : 1989 in Pecs, Hosszu is an all round performer who has gradually improved from European dominance to truly world class. Following on from the long tradition of Hungarian swimmers, she has always been competitive in championships and now can claim to be the world's best IM swimmer. In 2013 she broke the short course world records for 100 metres IM, 200 metres IM and 400 metres IM. 4 gold medals in the 2014 World Short Course Championship in Backstroke & IM was achieved with world records in each swim. Double gold in the 2 IM events at the 2015 World Championships confirmed her No 1 status. 6 gold medals at the European short course championships ended the year on a high & there were 2 more World Records in the 100 & 400 metres IM. Her status as the "Iron Lady" was reinforced by 3 gold medals at the Rio Olympics with the 100 metres Backstroke complementing the IM double. She completed a fantastic year winning 7 gold medals at the World Short Course Championships in 3 disciplines - Backstroke, Butterfly & Individual Medley. In 2017 she completed the IM double at the World Championships for a record 3rd time.
